My great grandparents, John and Mary Coss owned the house next to the Church that is now the rectory of St. Mary's. They sold it to the Diocese for $4,000 in 1835 and with that money bought the 180 acre farm our family still owns South of Mendota, Illinois. Just an interesting bit of trivia.
