I honestly don't know. He had an uncle, Jacob Cosner, born 25 Jan 1839. He also had a g-uncle born about 1787. His great-grandfather was also Jacob, born in Froschen, Germany 1 Aug 1760. Yes, they are from West Virginia. "Bub" Cosner would be the third generation born in America.
