James Cosgrove. b1857 in Co. Armagh
Posted by: Phil Cosgrove Date: August 23, 1998 at 12:03:07

I am seeking any information on my Great-grandfather, James Cosgrove who was born in 1857 in Newton Hamilton, Co Armagh, Northern Ireland. He worked as a customs officer starting in NI in 1879 before moving to England, working in Wells (Norfolk), Whitby, Whitehaven and finally Southampton where he retired in 1919. James died in Southampton in 1932. He had 4 children: May, Charles, Hubert and Edward.
We think he had a brother (name unknown) who emigrated to Tasmania (date unknown).
Any information or links gratefully received.
