Corwin's of Michigan
Posted by: Cindy Corwin Lobb Date: January 12, 1998 at 19:02:32

Beginning in 1830's several Corwin's came to Michigan from New York State. Israel (wife Mary) was the first to arrive and received land from the federal government. My ancestor was Jesse Corwin (wife Sarah) who came to Wayne County MI in 1834. A cousin and myself are the only descents of Jesse still living in the same general area (within 20 miles of the original home site). Other Corwins which came in the 1830-1840 who came from NY state but I can not prove relationship to Jesse are: Stephen, Samuel, Nathan, and Isaac. Most started out in Western Wayne County (Canton twp area) then moved to the western part of the state (Calhoun County, etc.) Is there anyone else out there looking in these areas????

Thank you.
