Wythe County Corvins

Hello, folks,

I borrowed a copy of Clifford Canfield's book on the Krieger families in Wythe County, Virginia, through an interlibrary loan. (My local genealogy library didn't have a copy.) It is called "Notes on the Two Krieger (Creger, Cregger, Crigger, etc.) Families of Wythe County, Virginia," published in April, 1982.

If you have Corvin relatives from Wythe County, you are probably related to the Kriegers! According to Mr. Canfield, the youngest daughter of the Elk Pond Michael Krieger family is Elizabeth Creger. She married John Colvin Corvin Sr. Their children, Isaac, John, Thomas, Samuel, Elizabeth, Joseph, and Mary (Polly) Corvin were all born in Wythe Co., in the late-1700s.

Unfortunately, this is all Canfield has to say about my ancestor: "Thomas Corvin was in Wythe County in 1809 when his brother, John, died, but nothing more is known about him."

(Of course, many of us know that Thomas and family show up in Rhea Co., Tennessee in about 30 years!)

Fondly, Nancy
