Thanks To all for the greetings!I am 74 years young, today, July 22nd!I'm enjoying family genealogy history on the Internet. Let me give you a little bit about your Corso heredity:
Your grandmother, Rosa Corso, was born Nov. 2, 1892, died July 2nd, 1972. Her mother, Salvatora Diega, married Liborio Corso, your great grandfather, who was born on February 27th, 1844.
His father, Santo Corso, your great great grandfather (30 years old at his sons birth) was born in 1814. He married Maria Sgorlata (22 years at her son's birth) Maria, your great great grandmother was born in 1822. They married Nov. 25th, 1843 in Termini Imerese, Sicily.
Santo Corso, father of Liborio Corso, was your great great great grandfather, and he was born in 1779, died November 9, 1825. His wife, your great great great grandmother, was named Rosaria Rinella.
Maria Sgorlata's father, your great great great grandfather, was named Antonino Sgorlata, and Maria's mother, your great great great grandmother was named, Saveria Spagnolo, born in 1782, died November 23, 1823.
Your grandmother's mother, Salvatora Diega Corso, was 100% Spanish, her father's name was Francesco Diega, he was your great great grandfather, and his wife, your great great grandmother was named Rosa Diega. They were 100% Spanish which makes you 1/8th Spanish. She llived to be 102.. She raised your grandmother while her daughter ran their grocery store business. Your dad was three years old when she died.
Santo and Maria Sgorlata had another son, Antonino Corso, born on March14,1848, and a daughter, Maria Corso, born on January 27th, 1850. Antonino became and died a Monsignor Priest.
As I continue to research, I'll fill in more dates. With help of cousins in Italy who I e-mail with, regularly, we are researching the Sapienza side of our family. Aurora and Toscano from Florence, said that they will visit Lentini, where grandpa was born, and visit the church and search records. Anna in Florence, has mailed me a lot of information, also!Take care and love to you all!- Uncle Frank
