Sherry, Fletcher and my father were brothers. Grandmother, Mary Ellen Allison Corsbie, was actually half Creek Indian. Her mother was Creek. I believe her father was Dutch but am not sure. The Corsbie name has been misspelled for generations but the spelling my grandfather used was CORSBIE. His name was Oscar but I don't know much about his family. I believe he had a brother named Fred and one named John but not sure about that either. The problem with the name comes from a history of mispronunciation which led to the misspelling. There were some Cosby's in the same area but are of no relation. The Corsbie family was poor and not extremely educated so the wonderful people in the community convinced many of them they were spelling their name incorrectly. Of course, as new generations came along we were more educated and less prone to listen to the "smarter" Allsboro residents! So the spelling is slowly being corrected. The brothers and sisters of Fletcher are: Billy Franklin Columbus Corsbie (my father),Fletcher Corsbie Mack Corsbie, Estes Corsbie, George Corsbie, Earline Hester, Mollie Walker, Mozelle Davis and Suzie Aday. All of the boys have passed away but the girls are all still living. Also, my grandmother had two brothers that I'm aware of; Jasper and John Allison. I hope this helps.
