Hi Sara, My family history includes the Perth Ontario Corry-Kerr connection. I don't know that there was a divorced Catherine Corry, but I do know that two sisters Catherine (b.1812 ish)& Sarah Corry (b.1816ish) emigrated from Ireland to Canada as teenagers in early 1830's. Catherine married George Kerr (slightly famous Canadian family that includes his grandson John Kerr). Sarah Corry would be my 3G grandmother. Common given names besides Catherine & Sarah (like yours!), were William, James, John, Hannah, and Mary. I guess you are thinking that your last name must be derived from the male side - I don't know of any brother, but there may have been other Corrys (the sisters cousins?) who crossed to North America at the same time. Trouble is that most passenger manifests are unrecorded before the 1840's. I need to dig out my grandfather's notes (John Corry Doherty), but I could e-mail you a little more basic information in the meantime. I would be very interested to find out what you know about Catherine. Notify Administrator about this message?
