James Carriveau, b. October 7, 1857, listed place of birth as Quebec, Canada. Married Desheiges Pelletier (aka Jenny Pelkey, b. May 25, 1868) on August 31, 1885 in AuSable, Oscoda, Michigan. They had 14 children, 11 lived to adulthood. James Jr., Dora, Arthur, Eva, Metha, Beatrice, Mildred, Al, Erwin, Edward and Alice.

I can't find James' or Jenny's families in Canada. I remember Aunt Bea telling us James came from Montreal. He didn't get along with his family and left home at an early age.

Jenny spoke French to her children, especially when she didn't want her grandchildren to know what she was saying. She also spoke and read English. She may have had some Indian blood.

Anyone have more background on these two? We know there are a lot of cousins out there so if you think you are related let me know.
