Heritage Book of Rowan Co NC has much on the Correll family.
The first record that has been found to date for a Correll in Rowan CO NC is a road petition dated Feb 1772. States that George Miller has built a very good bridge across Abits Creek. on the Trading Road. Johannes Corl name is listed on the petition. This name is spelled many ways; Charal, Correl, Kerrell, Lorel, Currell, Carrell, & Korrell.
There is definite proof that there were five brothers that lived in Rowan, Iredell, Alexander, Lincoln and Catawba Counties in North Carolina in the later 1700's. The five brothers were; Phillip, William, Jacob, Peter, Adam and John.
1. Phillip b 18 Feb 1759 in Berks Co PA. Served in RW. Married Catherine Fries. He moved to Rowan Co NC in 1795, died 1 Feb 1843, buried at Mt. Zion Church Cem. China Grove, NC.
2. William b ca 1765, marrried Matholinet Paulua 15 Nov 1790, Rowan Co NC. In 1839, Wm is living in Lincoln Co NC. He owned land on Potter's Creek. In 1842, Potter Creek was in the boundaries that became Catawaba Co NC.
3. Jacob was on the list of taxables 1778 Dist. Berger. His wife was Elizabeth. Jacob issued 4 Nov 1784, 280 acres on the waters of Dutch Buffolow Creek.
4. Peter's name seemed to change from Correll to Cork in the records. Peter married Eve Troutman, dau of Peter Sr. On 18 May 1789, Peter had a state grant of 100 acres on second Creek. On 25 Nov 1819 a settlement of the estate of Peter Corl Sr is filed.
5. JOhann Adam Correll becomes Adam Correll in most records. Adam bought 280 acres for 180 pounds from Jacob Correll and wife Elizabeth on 11 April, 1787. This is the same land that Jacob bought on 4 Nv 1784.
Adam's name is listed in The Colonial and State Records of North Carolina. Children of Adam and Margaret were; John, Betsy [Elizabeth?], and Mary. We found the names of the two daughters on a document at the NC State Archives. Phil Correll is appointed guardian to Mary and Betsy Correll on 9 Nov 1804. Adam Correll died shorlty after making his will dated 25 June, 1803. Adam and Margaret's son, John, married Elizabeth Caster [not Custer] on 19 July, 1810 in Rowan Co NC. Both are buried at Mt Zion Church Cem in China Grove, NC.
John and Elizabeth raised six children; [1] Christiana b ca 1811, [2] Charles Paul b 15 Feb 1813, d 16 Feb 1901 md Clarissa Sophia Yost, [3] Christa b ca 1815, [4] Mary Ann b 6 Oct 1817, d 19 July 1898 md Peter Deal Jr 11 Dec 1848, [5] Peter died bef 1870 in Civil War,[6] Jacob b ca 1827.
This does not answer you question but maybe adds some clues to help. The book I have quoted from has many articles. Try to locate a copy from your local reference librarian.
