I am researching the ancestory of Manuel C. Sarmento, my grandfather. I am in touch with a cousin (We think a cousin because of a conversation with my mother many years ago). The cousin, Mervin J. Sarmento, father was Manuel Sarmento, grandfather, Manuel Sarmento and grandmother, Louisa Correia, all from the Azores, no other information. I know I am grasping at straws. If you find any link between Sarmento and Correia and would appreciate hearing from you. The Sarmento families involved settled in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties, California. Unable to find the origin of the "C" for Manuel C. Sarmento.
