Hi Jim,
That is kinda funny to find another Linda Correia, but you are right it does seem to be a tradition. My research has shown that the name "Correia" means "One who made leather garments; a strong patient person" but of course there could be other meanings. As far as the coat of arms I found that is says that it is gold; a black eagle, crowned gold, charged with an oval shield checkered of red and black. The official document arms in Riestrap's Armorial General says "D'OR A`LAIGLE DE SA., COUR. DU CHAMP. CH. D'UN E`CUSSON OVALE E`CHIQ. DE GU. ET DE SA.
(I hope you know what that says!)
I found a book of the Correia's that had some history, name origins, coat of arms, other Correias listed in the U.S.A., etc.. It is pretty interesting, mostly historical documentation but a generalization about the Correia name.

It is quite an undertaking doing this research, don't you think?I know my husband, Bruce, said that as far back as he knew they had all been involved with or worked on a dairy.Hope this helps, hope to hear from you.
