Please can anyone shed any light on this family surname please. My grandfather was a Strongman and his greatgrandfather father, Peter Strongman came from Cornwall to NZ and apparently nearly got eaten by the maoris here!!! He put up a good fight and the Maori chief spared his life and in return gave his daughter to him for a wife!!! Horror!!!
