Yes, we have a match on David A. Corman's with a few discrepancies.
Cornman did not enlist in February 1864; he RE-enlisted.He had originally enlisted on September 13, 1861, in Company E, 87th Pennsylvania Infantry.(Technically, the re-enlistment process was muster-out/muster-in.)Due to bad health, he transferred to the 10th Veteran Reserve Corps March 14, 1865, and was discharged July 20, 1865.He was shot twice:Once by a spent bullet at the battle of Carter's Woods and in the left wrist at the battle of Cold Harbor.
We differ on the parents.I have John & Sarah Wolf Cornman but make no claims to divine knowledge. You did say he had a half sister but both our fathers and mothers have different names.
David A. Cornman was born April 2, 1835, died March 24, 1925, and is buried in Springville Cemetery, Boiling Springs, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, underneath a very large, unique monument. In addition to working as a miller, he was a painter and constable. He married Angeline Smith March 25, 1869, in New Kingstown. The only child I know of is Wesley L. (b. 06/07/69).
The $64,000 question:Do you know if any of his letters, diaries, or recollections exist?
The $.64 question:Do you know his middle name?
