Kate Stevens Tolley, 89, 305 Hampton View Drive, Hampton,
TN, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009, at the residence of
a daughter, Barbara Moffitt.
She was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the
late Henry and Ida Cornette Stevens. She was a retired
nursing assistant at Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
She was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
her husband, Caleb Tolley, November 1999; her sisters,
Delia Arnett and Gladys Stevens; and her brothers,
Clifford Stevens, Clarence Stevens, Clyde Stevens,
Printice Stevens, Shoun, Stevens, and Conley Stevens.
Survivors include four Daughters, Barbara Moffitt,
Hampton, TN, Janice Stout and her husband, Pastor Bobby
Stout, Helen Blevins and her husband, Arthur, all of
Elizabethton, TN, and Brenda Sneed and husband, John, of
Hampton, TN; twelve grandchildren, Randy Woodby, Kelvin
Woodby, Bobby Stout Jr., Tawana Holland, LaDonna Boone,
Lisa White, Denise Norris, Angelia Fletcher, Kimberly
Wandell, Scott Simerly, April Ramey, and Kristi Simerly;
nineteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews including a special niece, Shelby Whitehead
Russell; and a special nephew, Lauren Stevie Stevens.
The family would like to express a special thank you to
the Johnson City Medical Center Hospice and especially to
her private nurse, Suzie Dayton.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon, Saturday
until the service. Friends may also call at the residence
of a daughter, Barbara Moffitt, 305 Hampton View Drive,
Hampton, TN.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday,
July 18, 2009, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor
Bobby Stout and Rev. Buddy Street officiating. Music will
be provided by Tawanna Holland, Soloist, Glenda Williams,
Soloist, and the Pleasant Beach Quartet. Honorary
pallbearers will be Byrl Clark, Raymond Crabtree, Lynn
Tipton, Alvin Woodby, Byrl McKinney, Tommy Vaughn, Ernest
Jackson, Kelvin Jackson, Vaughn Campbell Jr., Barney
McKinney, Gordon Holland, Greg Rustin, Jeff Hamrick,
Gordon Lewis, Tip Smith, Rocky Cochran, Steve Cochran,
Adrian Tolley, Ed Stalcup, Eddie Dean Palmer, Arnold
Hughes, Vic Harrison, Robert Holdren and Randy Mashburn,
and her special friends, Melvia Davis, Jean Trivette,
Thelma Cutshall, Tonya Buchanan, Ruby Hyder, Rose Lewis,
Erma Stevens, Romaine Watson, Elizabeth Street, Pauline
Holland, and Glenda Williams. Active Pallbearers will be
Johnny Sneed, Arthur Blevins, Lance Harsh, Kenneth R.
Woodby, Kelvin H. Woodby, Bobby Stout Jr., McKinley (Ken)
Woodby, Verlin Stevens and Steve Boone.
Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy
Valley Memorial Park.
