Gordon M. Cornett, 74, NY/TN, obituary

Gordon M. Cornett, 74, Johnson City, Washington Co TN,
died Sunday, January 11, 2009, at his residence with his
family by his side.

He was born in Endicot, NY, and was a son of the late
Donald J. and Anita Vangordon Cornett.

Mr. Cornett was a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church
where he formerly served as bus captain. He had also
served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent in
another church. He was a loving Christian husband, father
and grandfather. He loved camping with his family and
friends.

Mr. Cornett was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as
plant manager at Accurate Machine Products with over 50
years of employment.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years Janice Peters Cornett
of the home; three daughters, Wendy Norfleet and husband
Charles, Dalton, GA, Kimela Cornett, Johnson City, TN, and
Terri Duncan and husband Roger, Jonesborough, TN; five
grandchildren, Jason Glover, Johnson City, TN, Clara
Norfleet, Dalton GA, Demi Duncan, Jonesborough, TN, and
Angel Benfield and Tiffany Duncan, both of Johnson City,
TN; a sister-in-law, Harriett Wooldridge and husband Jack,
Williamstown, NJ.

A celebration of the life service of Gordon M. Cornett
will be 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at Dillow-Taylor
Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gene Lasley, Dr. Jody Jenkins
and Rev. Bryan Griffith officiating. Music will be provided
by Gary Seaman and Carol Knox.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from
6 p.m. to 8 p.m., prior to the funeral service and other
times at his home.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 14,
2009, at Cherokee Baptist Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be C. L. Butler, Jack Wooldridge, Charles
Norfleet, Roger Duncan, Jason Glover, Steve Rebmann and
Jack Mosier. Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Causey.

Memorial donations may be made to Hope Lodge, American
Cancer Society, 2008 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203.
