My goal is to find Lucinda Cornett Gay's father. Lucinda Cornett Gay is buried in Chestnut Cemetery in Mercer Co, MO. She died on 15 Mar. 1846, age 38y, 2m, 5d. (Her b. would be 10 Jan 1808.) Her death may have occurred in Daviess/Harrison/Mercer Cos, MO. If she was born in 1808, she would be a white female under 10 in 1810 census (age 2) The 1810 Census of Clay Co, KY lists Samuel, Will, Nathaniel, Roger, and Robert with daughters (or females) in that age bracket. Note: Will has a daughter named Lucy who md. Woolery Eversole, so I don't think he could be the father. In 1820, Lucinda would be 12, so a white female 10-16. 1820 Clay Co, KY lists Robert, William, and Samuel with daus. (females) in this age bracket. Again, I don't think it would be William because he has a dau. named Lucy. Lewis Russell Gay md. Mary Rice in 1826. He is listed in 1830 Perry Co, KY with a wife age 20-30. If this is Mary Rice, then Lucinda could still be with her parents. We do not have a marriage date for Lewis and Lucinda. None of the Perry Co,KY Cornetts have a daughter age 20-30 in 1830 Census. Robin Cornett in Clay Co, KY has two daughters (or females) aged 20-30. He does not have daughters of corresponding ages (30-40) in 1840. (Name is Robert in 1840 Clay Co, KY.) Based on this census data, it would seem that Lucinda is most likely the daughter of Robert (Robin) Cornett. However, no online list of this man's children names a daughter Lucinda born 1808. The Ancestry.com family trees list the following children from Robert Robin Cornett and Charlotte Callahan: List one-- Mary b. 1802, Henry 1803 or 1815, Margaret 1804, William1806, Emma Elizabeth1809, Zilpha 1810, James Braxton 1812, Susan 1816, Jane 1818, Isaac 1820; some also list Charlotte b. 1826; some add Elizabeth b. 1835, Arthur b. 1838 COULD LUCINDA FIT BETWEEN WILLIAM AND EMMA ELIZABETH? Of the five named possible fathers at the beginning of this letter, I've ruled William out completely because he has a daughter Lucinda who married Woolery Eversole. Samuel is a possiblity because he has a son Hiram, who, I believe, lives near Lewis Russell Gay in 1830 Perry Co, KY, and Lucinda names a son Hiram. Nathaniel and Roger are possiblities, but only because they have females in the right age bracket in 1810, 1820 they do not. The best choice is Robert Robin. Can anyone provide more info on these Cornett men, specifically, a will or estate settlement that might name Lucinda Cornett Gay or her children. Dann Norton Notify Administrator about this message?
