St Thomas -- I grew up just down the road. And my sister now lives near Barrie.
I haven't looked closely enough at things Corner to see what the connection between those Great Dalby Corners and my Hose Corners might be, but I'd kind of suspect there is one.
I see from canada411 that there are several Corners in Barrie, and also some in Aurora, my sister's vicinity.
Unfortunately, in the 1851 census, the Hose Corners were pretty much all born in Hose, and the Great Dalby Corners born in Great Dalby.
Aha. I find my Robert Corner born 1811 in the IGI, showing parents John and Sarah, but no more info.
Here we are! John Corner and Sarah Hourd were married on 1 May 1805 in Hose. No ancestral data for them, though. So still no hint of how the various Leicestershire Corners might be connected, in my own line.
There is a John Corner in the 1841 and 1851 censuses in Melton Mowbray who comes from Cambridgeshire, though. Odd man out, him.
If you see this and have learned any more about the Leicestershire Corners in the interim, or even if I could just help out the Barrie, Ontario, Corners by digging in the censuses and BMDs for them, post a reply and then we can talk by email and you can put me/them in touch with them/me!
