Thanks Margaret,
Yes, I contacted Mr. Cornell almost immediatley after beginning work on Elizabeth Cornell. He said he prefereed not to answer questions, and simply gave me the location of his site.
Unfortunately the only way to access his information is to download his entire enormous GED COM and my doddering old computer is on it's last bit of memory which prevents me from doing this.
What I should probably do is ask on the Cornell list whether someone who has downloaded his information can tell me what he has on Elizabeth.
I heard back from Margaret Bock today, a well respected and published Tripp researcher, who had some of this peculiar information, a marriage in 1712, two children attributed to the marriage that were born in 1705 and 1707, Elizabeth born before the birth year of her mother, and so forth. This was her reply:

Hi Sharilyn:
I am in Florida and don't have any Tripp material with me except that
which is in PAF on my computer and which you have. You could certainly be
correct in your assessment of PelegTripp and Elizabeth Cornell. I
haven't done any Tripp research for 10 or 12 years, so it is very
possible that new material has been uncovered. I merely quoted what I
found in the files at the time I was researching the Tripp family.
***Randall's unpublished "Joseph Tripp" material did not have any
documentation and could definitely be in error. In fact, as I recall, all
the Peleg lines were rather nebulous and i have found other errors in his
material.*** (emphasis mine)
I will be back in CT where my files are in April and would be happy to
"discuss Peleg and his wives" . However, if you have some documented
material, I certainly would be the last to contest it.
Sincerely,
Margaret

I alo found today that the: "The Fish Family in England and America" gives no wife for Peleg Tripp the son of Mehitable Fish.
So, bottom line is that the information for Elizabeth Cornell, and for Peleg Tripp is none too reliable. However, there appears to have been a marriage between some Elizabeth Cornell and some Peleg Tripp in Dartmouth in 1712/13.
John Carpenter was a much older man than his wife Elizabeth. He was born in 1667, and she was briskly turning out children, including first son CORNELL in 1721-1738 or so.She may have had an earlier marriage, but obviously not to a man that lived until 1761. I am keeping an open mind that I may,. in fact, be barking up the wrong Elizabeth Cornell, but I'd like to find the much quoted Dartmouth marriage of Elizabeth Cornell to Peleg Tripp, and to see what T has of course..

Sharilyn
