Dear Rita,
Am seeking information on a Margaret Cornell of Bayonne NJ born ca. 1838, married William Worden, ca. 1856.Her parents were lost at sea.Her brother was supposed to be a wealthy NY merchant. Her first marriage was to a ship captain who died.
The reason your message piqued my interest was that one of William's ancestors, Samuel Worden, married Abigail Mott, ca. 1755 in Monmouth Co. NJ.Several families moved together from MA and RI and split up between NY and first to Gravesend, L.I. then NJ, then on to IL.They were the Wordens, Holmse's, Salters, Browns, Chamberlains, Taylors, Ashers, Hendersons--all persecuted Baptists and Quakers.Do any of these names ring a bell?
Many thanks,
Kay Larson
