When John Peter Corn was seeking witnesses to prove he was in the Revolutionary War, in order to receive his pension, this testimony was given on his behalf:

1828 Nov 12 - Greenville District, SC
William Scott writes that he received a message from Samuel Campbell who lives near him that John Peter Corn who lived in Buncombe Co. NC wished to know if he were the brother of Joseph Scott who died in the service of his country in the time of the old Revolution. He is the brother of Joseph Scott. His father lived in VA in the fork of the James River in Fluvanna Co. There were four brothers: James, John, Joseph, and himself, William Scott. There were four brothers in Corns Mothers Family: George, John Peter, Jesse and Samuel. Their mother was a widow and he believes she was called Molley Corn. Scott was quite young at the commencemennt of the Revolution but he
believes Corn and his brothers went in the service at one time under the company of Captain Dewitt.

This letter was a testimony on behalf of Elizabeth Hancock Corn who applied for a
widows pension:
1846 Jan 13 - Clinton Co., Ky
William Morrison, age 78, declares he lived in Henry Co., Va not more than 2 miles from the Corn's and Hancock's and was acquainted with Jesse and his 3 brothers George, Peter and Samuel and their mother. He had often heard George Corn and perhaps Peter also speak of fighting in the Revolution. He states "my family lived in Virginia in the forks of the James River, Fluvanna County. There were 4 brother's of us, James, Joseph, John and myself by the name of William, and there were 4 brother's of your mother's family- George, JohnPeter, Jesse and Samuel Corn. Your mother was a widow if my memory serves me and was called Molly Corn"
