Mary, Mathew is the name that has been passed down through generations of Corn's as being the 1st male in that line to come to America. It is recorded in a number of documents and Historical
books, Lois Dorseys "Cornstalks and Preachers," History Of Henderson County, NC , History of Patrick and Henry Co,Va. and others. There were direct descendents of John Peter Corn named Mathew(one t,). My gggrandfather for one. I seriously doubt that it was contrived and what would be justification for doing so?
