My father tells me that his Cormack lineage goes back to Caithness, Scotland. I also understand from him that the Cormacks originated in Ireland and some moved to Caithness in the late 13th/early 14th century, around the time that William Wallace and Robert the Bruce lived.I was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, but my father, William Ryrie Cormack, is from Edinburgh, born 1927. He had a brother named John Lawrence Cormack. My grandfather, also David Alexander Cormack, was born in Edinburgh, around 1900. Part of his family were well known grocers in Leith, near Edinburgh. I do not know when they moved from Caithness to the central belt of Scotland. I now live in the States and would appreciate any advise from other Cormacks on how to research my family tree.
