"George R. Corliss, 82, a resident of the Broen Home, died Sunday, Aug. 27, at Lake Region Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls, with the Rev. Joseph Korf officiating. Burial will be in St. Otto's Catholic Cemetery in Fergus Falls.
Mr. Corliss was born May 20, 1907, in Clitherall Township, the son of Roy and Rose (Doyle) Corliss. He was baptized and confirmed at our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls, and he graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1926.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific. He worked for many years at the Montana Mill in Fergus Falls. He and Myrtle (LaValley) Gabriel were married Oct. 23, 1965. She died Feb. 19, 1985.
He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Fergus Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Marion) Merz and Jennie Corliss, both of Fergus Falls; and several step grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening with a parish Bible vigil at 7:30 p.m. and an 8 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary at Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls."
