There was a John Corless in Penn. census records, county:WAY, pg.189, Div:Diberry dated 1850. My family tree goes back to Galway County, but I think they came to Port of Penn. in 1807 on the ship Abeona. From what I understand, Corliss is an English name while Corless is Irish ( Norse origins: Mac Carluis). Hope this helps.
