Have many Corey males here tested their DNA at FTDNA? In researching my mothers paternal lineage, we had my uncle John W. Richardson test his DNA with FTDNA. We found an amazingly close match with a participant who has a Brooks surname at FTDNA . There was also a somewhat close match of Alan Corey who had a genetic distance of 6 at 67 markers. We were not too excited about the match with Alan corey, because that indicated that they shared a common ancestor between 16 and 24 generations prior.
We plugged in uncle JWs DNA marker information into another database at Sorenson and found another very close match with a Rewis surname participant. Recently, we entered in uncle JWs DNA marker information into dna.ancestry.com and found two more very close markers, Arthur Corey, and Alvin Corey had a genetic distance of 0 at 34 markers. FTDNA tests to 67 markers and that might be a better indication of how close the connection is.
In addition to trying to determine how Richardsons might be connected to Brooks and Rewis, we are now also trying to see what the Corey connection might be.
