Notes for JOHN *MALBONE:
BIRTH: Father's name is unknown. No father listed on death certificate just his mother Polly. There where many Malbone's in Newport, Rhode Island who where in the shipping trade. They were slavers in the 1600 and 1700 hundreds. There was also a large Malbone family Connecticut that descended from the Newport Malburns. At this time we have been unable to link John to either of these familys.

Birth year of 1805 taken from 1850 census, age 45
Birth year of 1810 taken from Jacobs birth certificate, fathers age 43,

Citation: Was one of a detachment of 20 picked artillery men who voluntarily accompanied an infantry assaulting party and who turned upon the enemy the guns captured in the assault.
