Hi Sarah, Yes, of course I know of Brian Core's finding the Hampshire Co. land items, which you also describe (without crediting Brian) on your web site http://corezfam.tribalpages.com/, together with my finds of Fayette Co, PA land records for Henry Core without credit. The problem is, there is only one known other record mentioning a George Core, that I found and transmitted to Brian, regarding the land grant to Michael Core in Monongalia Co, (West) Virginia. The John Core I found in Fayette Co., PA tax lists, and the Core family lore concerning a John Core (which may, as Brian has noted, represent the George of the Monongalia Co land item, since George may have been known to fellow German-extracted persons as 'Johann George') is not attached to any other person by this surname in records, to the best of my knowledge. Neither is there a record I know of that connects Michael of Monongalia with Henry of German Twp., Fayette Co. And while Brian's neat finding of the Hampshire Co. land items allows tentative conclusions as to some of the Cores who landed in Monongalia and Fayette, the Hampshire Co records found so far do not make connections with any Cores elsewhere. Similarly, the known records in Monongalia and Fayette do not make a connection with where the subject persons came from, nor do they show relationships (excepting of course the Michael-George land record connection). All of us need to keep in mind that 'same name' is so often not 'same person', and that evidence of the connection is required. In genealogical entries, including Trees, it should always be noted when conclusions are speculative, awaiting further evidence. Good hunting, Jade Notify Administrator about this message?
