Hi Jade - In the land records for Hampshire Co., George Core leased a tract form Lord Fairfax in 1775. The terms of the lease stated that the land was his for his natural life and the lives of three of his heirs, which were listed as, "Michael Core, Henry Core & John Core, sons of the said George Core." Henry Core's War Pension lists his place of birth as being Hampshire Co. That is information from Earl's grandson Brian Core, and the rest of that post is located here: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.core/23.31.56.57.1.1/mb.ashx My family's genealogy records showed that Jesse was Henry's son, and then said Henry was John Christian's son, which we know is probably not true because this land record lists Henry as George's son. Even the 1896 newspaper article contradicts this, saying that John Christian was Jesse's father, not Henry. Yuck. The reason I asked that the post be removed from the Barrickman message board was because it was redundant - I discovered, right after posting, that you had already answered my question over here! :) Thanks for the advice on visiting Fayette Co.'s land records - maybe I'll look up their earliest newspaper articles as well.
