To add to the above message, I have a certificate signed by A. Lincoln in 1863 appointing Andrew S. Core as commissioner of Internal Revenue of the third dist. of state of VA. According to my g-mother he loaned the union 100G's during the war (which he never recovered) so he must have been a very prominent citizen.
