My brother is William Cordray who made the reply about our Grandpa Otto. I can't believe he didn't tell me about these posts!
Anyway, My ggrandfather was Albert ROSE Cordray. I do believe that Rose was the surname of someone, probably his mother. He is listed as being 44 at the time of the 1910 Census for Blackdog Township, Osage Co., Oklahoma. It also states that his parents were from Ohio.
Grandpa had done lots of research before he died, but all of that work has been lost. He did say that his grandfather (Albert's father) fought in the Civil War and like my brother said, gave the whole "two brothers, one for the North, one for the South" story, etc., etc.
I wasn't really sure if Albert's father was named William. I do know that his mother was a dark-skinned woman with coal black hair. Grandpa always described her as being Black Dutch. I do not know what her heritage was and I'm really trying to find out. I am excited and wondering if these are our people. If you have any more information, PLEASE post. I appreciate anything anyone has to offer.
Jennifer (Cordray) Williams
