I know the Buchanan County, IA data is correct. I don't have a subscription to Ancestry.com, but I'm sure you are right and he's not listed there for some reason.
Right now, I'm not sure of anything concerning Sheperd. There is a woman who lives in Buchanan County who is doing some research in the courthouse for me. As soon as she sends me the copies I'll be glad to pass along what she found.
I do know that Sheperd and Amanda had at least one child, Elijah, who is my gg grandfather. Other than that, I'm not sure.
