Roy,
I have been looking for your Shephard CORDRAY.

First of all, his name is spelled Shepard , and I found him on the 1850 Federal census for Allamakee Co., Iowa.
Unfortunatley, He doesn't show up on the Ancestry census image where they say he is.
Also found him on the 1852 State census for Buchanan Co., Liberty Twp. but there is no census image for that.

Do you have anything more on Shepard?
I have tried the Brownson side and I find the branch in Iowa may very well be from NY., but cannot find a Philo BRONSON.

I do have a Shepperd CORDRAY, but he was born in Maryland c.1780. I have no further information on him yet, but might be a key. Will look further.

Meanwhile, any other information that you would be willing to share might be helpfull.
Carolyn
