Sarah Stewart b 4 Nov 1774 in Monongalia Co. VA, d 30 Aug 1831 married Thomas Cordray 6 Oct 1804. Thomas was b 15 May 1773 in Kent Co, DE and d 8 Oct 1839 in Monongalia Co. VA. The Sarah Stewart who was the daughter of William Stewart who married (2nd marr) Elizabeth Cunningham is not the same one. That Sarah Stewart was the niece of the Sarah who married Thomas Cordray, and her husband was Alexander Evans, m. 16 Oct 1837. My info. comes from three sources: The Biographical and Portrait Cyclopedia of Monongalia, Marion & Taylor Cos. (Philadelphia: Rush, West & Co., 1895, p. 174) and the Stewart Clan Magazine, Sept 1949, p. 62. The Stewart Clan Magazine, however, gives Mary as the wife of Thomas Cordray rather than Sarah. I was assured that this is an error by Susan Glasscock Arnold (sarnoldwv1@aol.com). She has much more information on the Cordrays than I do, and I learned a lot from her.
