Herbert B. Kimzey edited the Habersham Co., Ga Genealogy Reports. In Vol I, part 1, page 16, 1820 census of Habersham, he records: Elnathan Caudell as 000010-40010-0. Also listed were Benjamin Caudell as 000001-01201-0; Isham Caudell as 000100-10100-0; Stephen Caudell as 310010-10100-0.Kimzey states: "While the name appears on the census as "Cordell", the correct spelling is "Caudell"."
It is believed that Benjamin Cordell was the father of Elnathan.Benjamin's wife Sarah left the Providence Baptist Church in 1835 moving with her son, Stephen, to Walker Co., GA. Benjamin was a member of this church but his leaving was not recorded. I believe he died in Habersham.

David Cordell, lived in Franklin Co., GA, moved before 1840 to Monroe Co., TN, then by 1850 to DeKalb Co., AL. 2. Elizabeth Cordell m. Isham Cordell moved to KY. There are probably more, names unknown at this time.

In the records of Providence Baptist Church Caudell & Caudel. The different spellings do make research difficult.More Replies:
