There were and are many families named Cordes in Niedersachsen, Germany especially the area NE of Bremen. My GGGF Adolph Cordes 1816-1891 came to the Cole Camp area of Benton Co, Missouri in 1853. There were other Cordes families there also, some related, some not. A cousin of Adolph settled in Pennsylvania, and they use the spelling Kordes. Some of Adolph's line moved to Pocahontas, Iowa 1890s, and I'd enjoy hearing from their descendants.
