Cordes Family of Charleston

I am trying to find information on the Cordes Family in St. Stephens parish in Charleston in 1790. There was an Upton Plantation owned by John Cordes and also Yaughn Plantation owned by a Cordes family. I have reason to believe my great great great grandfather married a woman named Cordes. His name was Francis or Francois DesBrosses or DeBrosse or maybe even Bross. The family started out as DesBrosses.

They moved to Abbeville District, Long Cane Creek Settlement, South Carolina and were there in 1832 when she gave birth to one of her children. They were still there in 1843 when my great great great grandfather was born. His name was George Washington Bross. The family moved to Alabama while he was still an infant.

Any info at all would be appreciated.
