North German names evolved in many strange (to us) ways, and I'm certain any duplication in Spain is coincidence. When Adolph Cordes of Fahrendorf was born 1816, he was baptized as KOHRS, as were earlier generations. By his adolescence, the family had begun to appear as Cordes and Kordes in the same church books. There are branches in USA using both Cordes and Kordes spellings.
