Edward Corder, Sr would appear to be the father of Elijah. I find Elijah Corder listed in the tax rolls of Tazewell County, VA for the years 1803-1807. Benjamin, Edward (Sr & Jr), and Stephen also first appear here in 1803. In 1802 Edward Sr was on Wythe County, VA tax rolls. From 1787-1801 he was on the tax rolls of Montgomery County, VA. William Corder first appeared in Montgomery County in 1794, Benjamin in 1798, Edward and Stephen in 1801. Edward Corder swore allegiance in Montgomery County, VA on or about 6 Sep 1777. In 1774 in Fincastle County, VA Edward Corder was paid for driving cattle seven days. Jno. Corder (his brother?) was paid for three beeves.

There are earlier records of Edward Corder in MD and northern VA, but some are too early to be the same Edward.

On 25 Aug 1807 Edward Corder and Abraham Workman were assigned as administrators of the estate of Elijah Corder, deceased. The name in this Tazewell record was erroneously given as "Cower" rather than Corder. This administration account was not settled until 24 Dec 1822 with the widow and son, Elijah, Jr, having been fully paid and an unnamed daughter to get $72.19. The widow owed a balance on her note of $20.78.
