Greetings,
I am re-entering family search after an abscence of 15
years;and am a desc of John corder of Caswell CO N.C.
who died in Smith CO Tenn.
To anyone interested in the Indian raid on the Wilder-
ness Trail in 1793 I found some very interesting info.
In the book "That Dark And Bloody River" by Pulitzer
nominee Alan Eckert, the amplification notes list white
captives surrendered to Gen. Wayne's Army At the Green-
ville Treaty of 1795.(Near present day Greenville Ohio.)
I found "Jenny(Anthony)Corder,28captured Mar 26 1793 on
Wilderness Road Ky;surrenderedJuly101795 by Wyandot Ind-
ians.Also,Elizabeth(Corder)Anthonycaptured Mar26 1793 on
Wilderness Road.
These names and dates match the report of the account
in the Lexington Gazette vol.vi no.xxx 4-13 1793.And also
the private letter of Susannah Anthony to Mary Lou White
April23 1900.
The big mystery here is that John Corder's will 1814
mentions "my dau if alive" this is 19 years after her
return. Any questions or perspectives on this matter
feel free to contact me. I would love to hear from any
fellow Corder researchers after all these years.
