Jeff,
If you know the Funeral Home, where the person was at, just ask the FH, for a copy of the death record. I will contain lots of information like, date of birth, date of death, cause of death, Mothers maiden name, place where death occured, attending Physician and several other things. Usually the Funeral Home will do this for free, especially if they don't have to mail the copy. If you live away, you might want to send a little money , for postage. I have gleaned lots of information from Funeral Home records.
