Mary,
I think we have conversed on another forum, so some of this may be repetitive.
I'm sure we have some of the same ancestors. Nicholas Copple, b. 1735 in Schwartzwald, Prussia, d. 1805 in Rowan County, North Carolina, married Maria Anna Wilhelm, b. abt. 1728 in Prussia.
According to the information I've gathered, they had 10 children:
William, b. abt 1753 in Prussia
Catherine, b. abt 1755 in Prussia
Christina, b. abt 1756 in Prussia
Jacob Peter, b. abt 1757 in Prussia
Daniel, b. abt 1758 in Prussia
Barbara, b. abt 1759 in Prussia
Nicholas, b. abt 1766 in Prussia
John, b. 27 Sep. 1768 in Prussia
Phillip, b. abt 1774 in North Carolina
Maria, b. abt 1776 in probably in North Carolia
My direct ancestor is through John who married Elizabeth Foutz sometime around 1790 in North Carolia. Elizabeth was born around 1774 in Randolph County, North Carolina. Elizabeth also has roots going back into Prussia.
John and Elizabeth had the following issue:
David, b. 26 Jun 1794 in North Carolia
Elizabeth, b. 20 March 1797 in North Carolina
Samuel, b. 23 May 1797 in North Carolina
Mary (Polly), b. abt 1798 in North Carolina
Sarah, b. abt 1800 in North Carolina
Susan, b. 17 Nov 1806 in Indiana
Enos, b. abt 1810 in Indiana
Celia, b. abt 1811 in Indiana (I think this is the one you called Lilly)
Jacob, b. abt 1814 in Indiana
Elizabeth married John Rhoads (spelling can vary)
Mary married Absalom Rhoads
Celia married David Rhoads
I belive these Rhoads boys were brothers and thus begins the confusing and convoluted family history through which I descend (cousins marrying cousins). It's been fun to unwravel and I'm still not sure I have it right. Evidently some of the Copple and Rhoads families intermarried several times.
Mary's son was my gg grandfather Daniel Rhoads
Celia's daugher was my gg grandmother Mary Ann Rhoads
Mary Ann married Daniel as well as another distant Copple first cousin, Samuel Copple.
There is also another Copple that I neglected to add to the above issue of John Copple and Elizabeth Foutz. That is a name that I found in the LDS Church's Ancestral Files, Signor Isaac (Doc) Copple.
He was evidently born in 1794 in Rowan County, North Carolina, and married Elizabeth Plummer. He died in 1844 in Shelby County, Indiana.
Do you, or anybody else, know for sure who he is, or if he is a real person???? The name sounds spurious. Perhaps it's just Isaac Copple.
Thanks for any additional information or corrections to the information I posted above.
Paul
