Albert Coppin of Winterport Maine was the first man committed to the Eastern Maine Insane Hospital in Bangor, Maine on June 26, 1901, 4 days before the hospital offically opened. I have been unable to find any further information regarding Albert. This information came from a history of the Bangor Mental Health Institute written by Robert Gripp and printed in 1976. If anyone has any further information please post it as a follow up. This is not my family, I just came across this today and thought I would post it.
