My gr-gr-grandmother was Penelope Copley Mills born abt 1827 in Waync Co W.VA(Virginia at that time). I have seen her parents listed as Thomas Copley and Mary Frasher and Thomas Copley and Frances Baiden (not sure of spelling)
It seems Penelope was married to a Charles Brit or Burt and had a few children by him,one being Annie Lizzie or Anna E. She was listed in the 1850 census living with Penelope and various others Fastforward to 1880 and she is living with John and Besty Mills, Penelope's son by William Mills, and listed as sister. Does anyone have any real concrete evidence as to this particular Penelope's parents? Seems their were 2 other Peneope Copleys in the area at the same time. One was the spouse of an Anthony Copley and another married to a Parsley.
I would appreciate any help you can give. I often go to Martin Co KY for research, but have never been to Wayne Co and wouldn't know where to go to look for info there. If anyone has been and has this line, please HELP!
