Mr. Ira G. Copley, 107, of Huntington, formerly of Verdunville,(Logan Co., WV) passed away Saturday, February 16, 2002, at Huntington.
He was born August 19, 1894, at McComas in Wayne County, a son of the late Silas Ray and Elizabeth Wallace Copley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Copley, in 1977; four sons, Wilburn, Silas, Sylvester and Teddy, and one daughter, Yorkie.
Mr. Copley was a retired blacksmith and coal miner. He was a member of the UMWA and the Maryetta United Baptist Church at Verdunville.
Survivors include one daughter, Iris Kathleen Vance of Huntington; two sons, Lloyd Copley of Charleston and Sam Copley of Crown City, Ohio; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Maryetta United Baptist Church with Rev. Otto W. Vance and Rev. Tony Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the church.
Evans Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
