COPELAND, etc., DNA Testing Project
Hello,
We are announcing, with the blessing of Jesse Lawrence the Coordinator of the COPELAND surname list on Rootsweb.com and a long time COPELAND researcher, the beginning a Project for DNA testing of the COPELAND, COPLAND, COPLIN, COPLEN, COPELIN,COPLAN, COPELAN, COUPLAND or any spelling of the Copeland surname. This is the DNA that is passed only from father to son, to son, to son forever, so we will be using the DNA from males of the surname. Females or researchers with other surnames can use the DNA of any relative with the surname of COPELAND, etc.
There have been many success stories in this new field of Genealogy research, as it is a way for those who are hopelessly stuck with no paper documents to get over that hurdle and prove that they connect to other lines. Or to solidify the paper research to prove that it is correct. I, myself, got over a 20 years brickwall with my FRENCH family.
This group will include all COPELAND families of all spellings.

I want to add that the company, Family Tree DNA has been chosen to do the testing, after careful consideration of several, because, of the Discount in pricing that they give to groups doing the DNA testing and their very personal attention to their customers, and the fact that they provide a website for our group in addition to a personal webpage for each customer. They have a database of about 12,000 test results and growing and it is possible to match your marker numbers against the entire database to see if others match you, worldwide. I have no connection with the company and will not gain from any commissions, I only have a desire to have my COPELAND line tested and to coordinate the COPELAND group and to provide the website for everyone interested in the Project.
