Michael, I just got home from a trip to Scotland and spent a few hours in Dolphinholme. I live 230 miles south of Dolphinholme. It was a wonderful surprise to receive your confirmation of area John immigrated from. I have never been comfortable with the previous assumptions that John was the Quaker John, due to the difference in birth date and area of Yorkshire being the birthplace of the John born 1616. Plus, the information I received from a fellow researcher stating William and Mary being the parents of John really confused me. Now that I feel certain of the parentage of Nicholas b. 1638, I want to go to Preston and check out their records. You mentioned Preston in your correspondence. Have you done research in the area? If so, I don't need to duplicate what you have done. Since I have fairly easy access to English records for at least one more year, can you direct me in research that still needs to be done on the line? Is Preston the best place to start?
