Jennifer!

Can't really help, but I do have a question and a comment

I am also descended from William and Hannah of Leon COUNTY ,Texas

I must say I have seen so many COPELAND genealogies that all must be taken with a grain of SALT

Looks like what you have is pretty much the accepted one...

Richard, the father of James was named RICKETTS and it is quite easy to see why it sometimes shows as Richard(sounds like a disease but it is actually a surname of one of the families living in the same area as the Copelands at that time)

His wife's surname seems to be unknown and Polly was probably a NICKNAME

Now, where did you get Catherine BUXLEITNER???!!

I've never seen that and it would be a real breakthrough if true I have NO reason to doubt it but I'd greatly appreciate knowing how you got hold of it.

Now, I'm only a layman's layman in family history and my only real experience with Copelands is going through those old cemeteries in central Leon County as a boy but just remember a GRAIN of SALT ..

Thanks,

brown,john
