Bob,A little further looking and I found the family of James Alexander Copeland, well documented by his descendants that are proven through DNA test via the “Y” chromosome test.The web site is located at the link below.
William Leander Copeland is thought to be the father of the Hugh Copeland that you mentioned earlier.
James Alexander Copeland was born 12 Jan 1817 in GA and died 31 Oct 1883 in DeKalb Co., AL.
