Thanks for the reply Linda,
The Jesse Copeland that I mentioned, I don’t know if he’s a relative at this time.I’m actually trying to find Ambrose Copeland’s father or ancestors.Ambrose lived just across the Edgefield county line in Abbeville during the 1800 census.I have lots of info on him after that time and he named his first son Jesse.
After I posted the message that you responded to I found Jesse Copeland on the 1800 Edgefield census, this was Luck. He’s not listed on any Index for this year, I was looking for his earlier neighbors and found him listed on a torn document. The name is Jesse Copeland for sure.I found him again in Spartanburg in the 1810 census but not after that time.If he moved to Tennessee like my Ambrose, I haven’t been able to find him. There are no surviving census until 1830.He may have died before that time.
Do you know who the siblings are (or parents) of your Richard Copeland?
Have you seen any literature with the Ambrose Copeland name.
Best Regards & Happy Hunting……….Jim
